According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hammer sent the entertainment news site a statement hitting out at the “spurious and vicious online attacks”.
A production spokesperson informed the PA news firm: “Given the imminent start date of Shotgun Wedding, Armie has asked for to step far from the movie and we support him in his choice.”
Sky News has called representatives for Hammer, 34, for remark, along with the Lionsgate movie studio.
