According to Deadline, Chris Evans will reprise the part of Cap in “a minimum of one Marvel home” with potential scope for a 2nd. Marvel has not responded to the report.
Possibly he can do this all day. Chris Evans is apparently all set to return to the Captain America role after apparently departing the MCU at the end of Avengers: Endgame.
Evans, of course, officially left the role– and the MCU– behind with Avengers: Endgame. We do not know if he kept to the shadows, nor do we understand how Captain America will fit into Marvel Phase 4– and beyond.
One distinct possibility could be the multiverse. Marvel Studios is laying the foundation for the expedition of parallel universes with the Doctor Strange follow up Multiverse of Madness along with Spider-Man 3, which is pulling in villains from Spideys prior motion picture history, consisting of Alfred Molinas Doc Ock.
Officially, the mantle of Captain America will return in Falcon and The Winter Soldier– however another person will likely be wearing the stars and stripes in the Disney Plus series.
Speaking on The Jess Cagle Show, and reported by Comic Book, Falcon star Anthony Mackie said: “The show, the concept of the show is generally, you know, and at the end of Endgame, Cap decided he was entering into retirement and he asked me if I would use up the guard, however at no time did I concur to or state that I would be Captain America.”
He included: “So the program walks the line of who is going to take up the guard and whos going to be Captain America if Steve isnt coming back.”
Whether its a multiverse or a Disney Plus cameo stays to be seen, but it sure would be nice to have Cap on our left and playing even a bit-part function in Marvels interesting future. Catch up on all Caps experiences up until now with our how to see the Marvel films in order guide.
