Holly Willoughby jokes about Rebekah Vardys real reason for appearing on Dancing On Ice – Mirror Online

Holly Willoughby joked about Rebekah Vardy’s real reason for taking part in Dancing On Ice as husband Jamie made an appearance via video link tonight.

The 38-year-old impressed the judges after skating with partner Andy Buchanan this evening and was later treated to a video call with her husband and their five children.

Holding up a poster which read “GO ANDY AND MUM”, Becky’s family waved and she smiled back at them.

Holly told Jamie that he must be proud of his wife for going out and skating when she’s not a performer, to which he replied: “Absolutely over the moon for her.

“She’s put a lot of work into it every day, watching videos and stuff at home, which gets annoying sometimes but, nah that’s just the dedication that she’s put in.”

Meanwhile, daughter Megs said that she would have given her mum a “solid 10”.

As all the kids began to clap and call out to their mum, Holly joked: “How sweet! I think I’ve realised why you’re doing the show – to get out of home schooling, isn’t it?”

“Poor Jamie,” Becky laughed.

Earlier, Becky opened up about her fears just an hour ahead of her debut on the ice this evening – which includes a rather awkward wardrobe malfunction.

With just minutes to go before she took to the ice with her partner, Rebekah shared a blog post in which she opened up about how nervous she was.

Admitting that she wasn’t worried about the skating, Rebekah confessed that she was “fearful over millions of people watching her at home”

She also worried that she “wasn’t a performer” and that her “boob might pop out”.

In her blog post, Rebekah wrote: ” Dancing on Ice starts tonight. ITV1 at 6pm. I can’t wait to get out on the ice but I’m also terrified. Bizarrely it’s not the actual skating that terrifies me.

“Of course I’m scared of falling but I’m mainly terrified of knowing that millions of people will be watching from home.

“I’m terrified because I’m sporty, not a performer or an entertainer. I can’t do jazz hands.

“What if I just don’t ‘entertain’ enough? What if I don’t show any emotion on my face other than PETRIFIED? What if I let Andy down? What if my boob pops out?

“I’m hoping I step onto the ice and the fears miraculously melt away.”

Earlier, host Holly Willoughby shared her excitement ahead of the hit ITV skating show’s launch this evening.

Taking a selfie on the way to the ice rink at RAF Bovingdon in Hertfordshire, Holly cosied up in a turquoise puffer jacket and hid her mouth behind a black face mask.

She captioned the Insta Story with a simple “Incoming!” and tagged Dancing On ice.

Phil also gave fans a glimpse at how the new Covid-secure studio looked like ahead of the live show.

Sharing a video of himself and Holly, standing two meters away behind him, he said: “We are finally reunited – well, we’re a long way apart – but we are in the Dancing On Ice studio and we’re all here.”

Showing off the elongated judges panel, which had perspex dividers between Jordan Banjo, John Barrowman, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, Phil said: “Here’s the incredibly long judges desks and they are all in their own perspex compartments.”

“It’s the Titanic! The judging Titanic!” John called out.

This year’s skating competition has already been riddled with issues, though surprisingly not to do with Covid-19.

Last night, Denise Van Outen was rushed to hospital after dislocating her shoulder after falling face first during rehearsals.

Professional skater Yebin Mok is also unable to perform alongside her celebrity partner Graham Bell at the launch after a freak accident saw him stab her leg with his skate blade.

And Rebekah Vardy accidentally sliced pro partner Andy Buchanan’s face with her ice skates – but the pair are thankfully still able to perform tonight.
