Coronation Street could be lining up devastating scenes as Peter Barlow prepares to die, amid his battle with alcoholism.
The alcoholic relapsed just months ago, and has suffered significant damage to his liver.
With him needing a transplant, the character is in a bad way but unable to give up alcohol.
His family including dad Ken are desperate to save him and stop him drinking, but upcoming scenes show Peter has accepted he is going to die.
One tragic scene sees the ITV soap favourite penning a goodbye letter to his teen son Simon, as he prepares for his death.
His ex Carla Connor is horrified, and begs him to save himself before it is too late.
She reads it out to his distressed family, and son Simon storms out as he’s left shaken.
His family beg him to think of his son, but Peter can’t stop drinking and ends up having a seizure as his health deteriorates.
Ken has been doing what he can to keep him indoors, including trying to get him banned from all of the pubs around them.
When this doesn’t work he despairs, as he fears he is losing his son.
Peter soon breaks down when Ken confronts him, admitting he doesn’t know how to stop boozing.
After he is rushed to hospital following the seizure, the doctor suggests reducing his alcohol intake slowly to avoid sudden death.
The Barlows discuss this back at home, and Carla wants to help but Peter tells her to stay away after she cheated on him with his nephew Adam.
But amid his grave condition, Roy encourages him to make it up with her before it’s too late – sensing they both still love each other.
Later as Carla pays him a visit and Ken prepares his limited alcohol, Peter asks her to stay amid her plans to meet up with someone else.
But will she stay, and will the pair manage to reunite?
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
