Klei Entertainment has insisted it “keeps full autonomy” after Tencent purchased a majority stake in the business.
Klei, best-known for its tremendously popular gothic survival experience Dont Starve, said it stays in control of innovative and operations across all elements of the studio, consisting of projects, talent and more.

” We took a look at a lot of various business, and over the years, weve dealt with a great deal of distributors and publishers,” Cheng stated. “Tencent is the only company that we felt would let us retain the level of control that we require.
” Weve been working with Tencent for many years and even at points where we disagreed, they were constantly going to deal with us to find the very best solution for everyone included and postpone to us when we felt strongly.”
