A large cannabis factory was uncovered by police after a gang smashed the window and stormed the house – sparking a break-in alert.
Five men reportedly pulled up in two separate cars in Handsworth Wood Road before shattering the glass and bursting their way into the property.
The raid took place just after 9.30pm on Thursday night, prompting a 999 call to a suspected burglary.
But when cops arrived, they found the house empty – save for the 400 cannabis plants growing inside the factory.
It’s understood two cars with five men pulled up, smashed the front window, burst into the house and ’caused significant damage to the property’.
The gas and electric were also said to have been ‘dug up’ in response to the incident. Police were pictured outside the house – which had shattered windows – on Friday afternoon.
West Midlands Police confirmed the set-up was ‘dismantled’ as they responded to reports of a suspected break-in at 10pm.
Enquiries are said to be ongoing into the cannabis farm discovery.
A statement from the force read: “We responded to reports of a suspected break-in on Handsworth Wood Road at 10pm on Thursday evening.
“There was no-one at the property on arrival, but we found a large cannabis factory with almost 400 plants.
“The set-up has been dismantled and our enquiries are on-going.”
