Selfless Brendan O’Carroll paid some of his co-stars out of his own pocket after the show’s tour hit the buffers.
The 65-year-old dipped into his own savings to pay the cast and crew after the live event was cancelled due to Covid.
The 16-date Mrs Brown’s Boys arena roadshow was shelved last year, leaving staff and stars seriously out of pocket.
Brendan said making sure they didn’t fall into difficulties was the top priority and he knew he had to stand up when the plug was called on the tour.
He told the Irish Sun that he is a big believer is karma – and making sure his team don’t struggle will be rewarded in other ways.
“You have to realise this would be the cast’s earnings for the year,” he said.
“So what I did was advance them half the money they’d make off the tour, they’ll get the rest when we actually get to play the arenas. There’s also the fact that I want to hang onto some really talented people I enjoy working with and I know are brilliant.
“I want all my actors back when we come out of this. I’m a big believer in treating people well so they don’t feel the need to go anywhere else.
The Mrs Brown UK arena dates were rescheduled to go ahead in 2021 but it remains uncertain whether they will happen yet.
