James Argent has hailed his friend Mark Wright as an “inspiration” as he looks to tackle his 28 stone weight.
The 33-year-old reality star, who was in The Only Way Is Essex with Mark, has spoken out about how he will be looking for a positive start after reportedly being told to “lose weight or die.”
Mark and his brother Josh had both been in tears after having an emotional response to learning that Arg had found lockdown difficult and had piled on the pounds.
The reality star turned singer, who has dated Gemma Collins on and off in previous years, had taken to Instagram to announce that he was going to wrestle control of his life, after he admitted that he had taken some wrong turns in recent months.
James shared a slim picture of himself in which he is smiling and he said that this is how happy he wants to be again.
Captioning the pic, James wrote: “Its time to be honest with myself & put my health first.
” Enough is enough! My dream is to be as happy & healthy as I was in this photo, I loved myself & felt confident!
“I appreciate you reaching out & giving me advice about weight loss surgery. I’ve been battling for years & I’ve thought long & hard about it.
“I know people will have there own opinion but it’s my journey & I’m going to go for it. I hope to get back to my very best once & for all!”
Mark was among the first to comment on the post, telling James: “Let’s go baby.”
Speaking to The Sun, James revealed that he will use Mark’s desire to become a professional footballer as his “inspiration”.
He said: “Mark is my inspiration – he’s got his life together, he’s fit and healthy, he’s got a gorgeous wife and a successful career.
“There’s no reason why I can’t achieve all of those things too when I’ve lost weight.”
James said that Mark was “so upset” when they saw he had tipped 27 stone on the scales.
James added: “We used to banter because I was always the chubby one, but this time Mark just said ‘Arg, this isn’t even funny anymore, this is serious.’”
Arg went on to say that the reason he didn’t have a girlfriend was because he was “too self-conscious and unconfident to take my clothes off.”
He added that there was a moment which upset him as he had to ask his manager to help him tie his shoelaces.
Arg said: “I just couldn’t do it – my belly is too big. I can’t do up my own shoe laces.”
