Olympian rower James Cracknell has announced his engagement to his girlfriend of 17 months, Jordan Connell.
The double Olympic gold medallist and six-times world champion announced their happy news in The Times.
Strictly Come Dancing star Cracknell and American financier Jordan, 35, met at Cambridge University in 2018, when he returned to college to study a masters in evolution as a mature student.
James has posted loving Instagrams with “my American” Jordan since they started dating, including one where she kissed his cheek as he showed her around Windsor Castle.
The news comes nearly two years after the 48-year-old finalised his divorce from first wife Beverley Turner.
The two had been married for 17 years and share three children.
The divorce came after radio presenter Beverley nursed Cracknell back to health following when he was nearly killed after being hit by a lorry while riding his bike across the US for a TV show in 2010.
He was put into a medically induced coma in the aftermath of the smash.
As a result of the accident Cracknell developed epilepsy and was left with serious brain injuries that effected his memory, ability to learn and sent his vocabulary ‘below average’.
With his family’s support, he slowly rebuilt his life, saying back in 2015 “The biggest challenge was knowing that 80% of all people with brain injuries end up getting divorced. All I wanted to hear was Bev saying, ‘You’re back’.”
Beverley has also since moved on with a new relationship, and the split was said to be amicable.
Cracknell has said of their changed family unit and their children: “It’s not going to be the same but they are important.”
Last year he appeared in Don’t Rock The Boat as part of a surprise challenge. He was also the first Strictly Come Dancing contestant to be voted off the 2019 series.
