Kym Marsh appeared on Morning Live via video call after she was forced to undergo surgery over the weekend.
The 44-year-old former Coronation Street star, who usually presents the show alongside Gethin Jones, appeared from her bed where she had been recovering after surgery on two hernias.
Speaking to Gethin and Dr Xand, Kym explained that the operation was more complex than the doctors had anticipated and ‘complications’ during the procedure meant she had to stay overnight in hospital
However, she maintained that she was doing well but feeling very sore.
During this morning’s show, Gethin introduced his co-star as she sat up from an enormous bed.
“Kym can’t join us this week, but I’m pleased to say we can catch up with her first now… wow! We’re going live into Kym Marsh’s bedroom, how exciting,” Gethin announced on the show.
Kym then explained to the presenters that she was recovering after keyhole surgery, during which the surgeons actually discovered a second hernia.
“I’m ok, I’m recovering. It turned out to be slightly more than they thought it was going to be. So to clear up… I do have a hiatus hernia but that wasn’t the operation I was having,” Kym explained.
“I’ve had two hernias in my groin, I thought I only had one and I ended up having two. So it’s more painful than I thought.”
Kym continued: “What I had originally was diagnosed as an inguinal hernia which they said can be caused by sport, and I’d trained quite a lot.
“When they went in and had a look they found what you call a femoral hernia as well, which is slightly less common.
“It’s more common in women, apparently, that have had children. So that was my Saturday… and I ended up having to stay overnight because I hit a few complications but I’m ok, I’m doing alright, I’m a bit sore.”
Kym also said: “Weirdly, because I had it done keyhole, the pain I’m getting is where they’ve gone in with the instruments rather than the actual groin area.”
Gethin later asked how Kym was coping with home schooling her kids while also recovering from the emergency procedure.
“I’m still trying to struggle through that, I’m sure most parents will feel my pain when I say its not been easy trying to homeschool,” she explained.
Kym added that there had been more support and structure from schools and teachers – as well as the support from her partner – but it hasn’t been easy.
The television star and former Hear’Say songstress then received well wishes from Gethin before signing off to get some more rest.
It appears that the television star will be due back in the studio next week where she will return to presenting duties after her recovery.
