Princess Diana protected nieces from paparazzo months before death – The Times

The nieces of Diana, Princess of Wales, have recalled how she protected them from a paparazzo five months before her death by turning it into a game.

The incident took place on a beach in South Africa during the princess’s visit to her brother, Earl Spencer, in March 1997. In August of that year she died, aged 36, when her chauffeur crashed their car in a tunnel in Paris while being pursued by photographers. She died alongside her boyfriend Dodi Fayed and the driver.

Lady Eliza and Lady Amelia Spencer, twin daughters of Lord Spencer, said that one of their last memories of their aunt was when they went together to Noordhoek, a beach known for its cold water.
