Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy Wagatha Christie talks break down with court deadline days away – Mirror.co.uk
Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy’s attempts to settle the Wagatha Christie case have failed, it’s alleged.
The duo reportedly met for peace talks with their lawyers on Thursday but failed to reach an agreement.
A High Court judge had given them a deadline of February 8 to come to agreement to avoid a trial.
Rebekah, 38, is suing Coleen, 34, for libel over an Instagram post she made in 2019 in which she claimed Rebekah’s account was behind a number of stories which had appeared in the papers.
Jamie Vardy’s wife has vehemently denied being involved in the leaking of stories from Coleen’s page.
A source told The Sun : “The talks were supposed to bring the women closer to a resolution but it’s only made their differences more apparent. It ended in a stalemate.”
The Mirror has contacted reps for Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney for comment.
In 2019, Coleen accused Rebekah’s account of being behind stories that were leaked from her private Instagram page.
Wayne Rooney’s wife set up her own sting operation to catch whoever had been passing on information from her private page to the press.
She said she posted a series of fake stories and blocked all her followers apart from Rebekah’s account.
This earned Coleen the nickname Wagatha Christie for her online sleuthing.
Rebekah denied she was behind the leaks, insisting a number of people had access to her Instagram page, and sued for libel in a bid to clear her name.
A preliminary hearing last year found in Rebekah’s favour, with the judge ordering Coleen to pay £22,913 in costs.
Rebekah recently suggested she reckons the court fight could “potentially” be settled soon.
She said in December last year: “The new year could potentially see a resolution between us. I’m sure the public are sick of reading about it too.”
