AN AGE-defying mum is often mistaken to be two decades younger by strangers who assume she is her daughter’s sister.
Veena Nayyar, 48, who lives in Slough, Berkshire, often leaves Angeli, 28, rolling her eyes as strangers assume they are siblings.
The Semi-Permanent Makeup artist says there is no ‘secret’ to her youthful looks and praises her ‘good genetics’.
However, the 4ft 11inch mum-of-two admits it can be ‘annoying’ when she gets ID’d for booze.
She said: “People are always shocked when I reveal my age.
“They often think I am at least 10 years younger.
“I am quite petite so people naturally assume I am younger.
“I’ve lost count of the number of times I have had to prove my age with ID.
“People always assume Angeli and I are sisters which I think is great but she finds it embarrassing.
“Angeli looks really young for her age too – we are quite lucky as we have great genetics.
“She has been asked why she isn’t at school, even at the age of 28!”

It isn’t just friends and strangers who are in disbelief, but supermarket workers too.
Veena’s often questioned and asked to prove her age when she is buying alcohol.
She adds: “I love looking younger but it is annoying when I have lots of shopping and need to rummage for my ID.
“It is funny seeing their face drop when they see my date of birth.”
Veena admits she has had Botox once on her forehead in 2018.
She praises daily moisturising for keeping her skin looking youthful.
She said: “I have always moisturised since my teenage years.
“I suffer from eczema so it is very important to keep on top of it by moisturising four times per day.
“I always wear factor 50 SPF on my face too.
“I think a common mistake for older women is they stick to one foundation because it worked in their 20s and 30s.
“But as you get older, we lose elasticity and require different products.
“My skin was especially dry when I went through the menopause at 46.
“Although I don’t look old, the menopause certainly made me feel old.
“I opted to go on hormone replacement therapy at 47 which was almost magic as it helped my skin and hair.
“I always use good products and make sure it is a good expensive shampoo to keep my hair shiny.”
It isn’t just a beauty regime that keeps Veena’s skin glowing but feeling good too.
She said: “It isn’t just about the beauty products, it is about mental health.
“I make sure I am happy to avoid eczema flare-ups and breakouts.
“But with age, I have become more mindful of what I am putting in my body.
“However, I am partial to cake and crisps.
“Overall, I am a positive person who looks after herself and I think that is why I look younger.”
