Holby City spoilers follow.

Holby City star Belinda Owusu has revealed she’s expecting her first child.

The actress, who plays Nicky McKendrick on the BBC medical drama, took to Instagram on Sunday (February 28) to share the happy news.

Posting an image of her baby bump, she also revealed that she’s 40 weeks into her pregnancy.

“Ready when you are, kid #40Weeks,” she captioned the post.

Incidentally, Owusu’s Holby City character Nicky is also pregnant, as she recently made a life-changing discovery.

Having confided in Louis over her unsettling symptoms, Nicky realised that her heart medication could have interfered with her positive pregnancy result.

Taking matters into her own hands, she performed an ultrasound on herself. Sure enough, she discovered that she was indeed pregnant – and quite far along, too.

Nicky immediately delivered the surprise news to her boyfriend Cameron, who’s currently tangled up his own web of lies. The question now remains – will Cameron stand by her throughout the pregnancy?

Given that Owusu is now 40 weeks pregnant, and the show films three months in advance, we can soon expect the actress to take a break from filming. It remains to be seen what her absence will mean for Nicky.

Holby City airs on Tuesday nights on BBC One.
